This is a bed I made in 2006 on commission for my friend Diana Cherbuliez. It is made of Maple, with a dark finish. This was fun and difficult to make. I had to make custom shaper cutters in order to cut the deep (and tall!) profile of the sides. Two sets of 4″ tall knives and two passes which met in the middle. Made them of some old (huge) industrial planer knives. One of which, on the last pass, of the last piece, shattered and exploded! It was dramatic to say the least! (I still have it actually, and maybe i will take some pictures and post one day)
Diana took this picture. I always thought it was a really beautiful shot, and like her cat, who looks like just heard something (like a can opening?) and is prepared for action.
The pictures below this one were taken during the construction.
